It's for those people who are happy to use FrontPage and other Office 2000 applications to build a web presence. The sub-title is 'Complete Self-Pacing Training' - and if you're familiar with Microsoft wizards and software then you can quickly create your own site. The overall strategy is to offer templates and ready-made instruction pages so that users can create web pages and get them up and running as quickly as possible. There's also a CD-ROM which contains interactive demonstrations and quizes to check your understanding of each topic. It covers the subjects of each chapter and provides sample files for experimentation. You follow the lessons by using dummy windows that teach you where to point and click. The recommended strategy starts with planning then creating your basic web pages, gradually adding style and features in easy stages. Everything is spelt out very clearly, and almost every instruction is illustrated with a screen shot. Most things are covered: graphics, frames, Web site structure, navigation, forms, uploading files, multimedia, hints on design, and even cascading style-sheets. There is no technical detail - which is either good or bad, depending on the point from which you're starting. Those people who don't want to be bothered with the arcane subtelties of HTML can breathe a big sigh of relief - and those who do probably will not be reading this book in the first place. This is a manual for small office and home office users who want to get a set of web pages up as quickly as possible, and are quite happy to work entirely with Microsoft products.
