It's a short issue this number,
so we've made the quiz a bit
harder just to make up :-)

0-----	'Complete Guide to D.H.Lawrence'

D.H. Lawrence fans will be interested
to know that there's a new guide to his
	work which has just appeared.

	Fiona Becket's 'Complete Guide' offers
a full account of Lawrence's life and
works - all placed in historical context.

	It includes his turbulent relationships
with women; a survey of his stories,
novels,	and poems and even and account
of his little-known plays and travel
	writing.

She also traces the development of
criticism of Lawrence's work - which
	is still a thriving business.

It's arranged in an easy-to-use format,
and also includes smack up to date
lists of further reading. Full details at -

0-----	FREE Graphics

A friend put me onto a good
source of FREE clip art last
	weekend.

	It's particularly useful if
you are a teacher. The site
	is designed for schools, and
	the graphics cover maths, art,
	languages, IT, science, and
topics such as sport and music.

0-----	PUB QUIZ - 2

	What is an orihon?

0-----	'Toothpicks + Logos'

Design affects all parts of our
daily lives - from cups and saucers
	to motorway systems.

This is the main thrust of John
	Heskett's new book on design.
He looks at both the way design
	is produced and consumed.

He also examines the way design
	is perceived and affects different
societies - so this is a book which
will appeal to sociologists as well
	as designers.

This is a stylishly produced monograph.

0-----	PUB QUIZ - 3

	What is an ortolan?

0-----	'Remediation: Understanding New Media'

Do you know what it's like to be
a molecule or a virtual gorilla?

Jay Bolter's latest book is an
in-depth study of the new media.
	This means digital graphics, TV,
	the Web, computer games, and
	Virtual Reality.

He looks at the way in which the
new media feed off the old forms
	such as paintings, printed books,
	and newspapers. Some of these
	even fight back by imitating
	elements of digitisation into
	their design.

This is a stiff academic read,
	but not-to-be-missed for media
	studies people out there.

	It is called K*l*e*z [without
	the asterisks] comes via empty
	emails or messages which claim
	to be sending you something.

	So don't start getting annoyed
with people who you may or not
know, who appear to send you
	messages saying 'I hope you
	like this program'. Just delete
	the message, and get yourself
	the FREE cleaning software at
this address - and keep the URL
	all on one line:
